Q. What Can the Fire Department Do for Me?

A. The Fire Inspector will investigate your Fire Hazard Complaint, and will attempt to remedy any hazardous conditions.

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 8:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Thursday, 8:30a.m. to 7:00p.m.
Friday, 8:30a.m. to 12:30p.m.

Q. What do you need from me?

A. An exact address or detailed location of the fire hazard.
If known, provide name and mailing address of the legal property owner.
A description of the fire hazard and where on the property the hazard exists.

Q. How does the Department process my complaint?

A. The Fire Prevention Bureau will inspect and investigate the hazard, usually within 24 hours.
If a fire hazard is found, a Fire/Life Safety Violation notice will be issued to the responsible party.
The notice will contain a deadline by which the hazardous condition must be corrected.
A re-inspection is conducted after the deadline to assure that the hazard has been eliminated.
If the condition is not eliminated, court action may be necessary.

Q. How Long Does this Process usually Take?

A. The Process can vary from one day to several weeks.
Results of the inquiry may be obtained by contacting the Peabody Fire Prevention Bureau.
