April 24, 1936 On June 16, 1935, Captain James Carr responded as the Acting Deputy Chief to a second alarm of fire at 353 Lowell Street. The fire was in an attic of a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. Acting Deputy Carr was overcome by smoke, heat and gases and was assisted from the burning building and ordered home by the Chief of Department. On June 17, he was ordered confined to his home by his physician and on April 24, 1936 his death occurred as a result of these injuries. |
